If Install and restart still says ENOTEMPTY on updates\extract\resources, you are on the old updater. Download fix-overlay-update.cmd, run it (it only deletes leftover AppData extract folders), then reopen the overlay and click Install again. Or unzip this 0.1.5 zip over the app folder.

What it does

• Hangs as a stylized, always-on-top window over Star Citizen (borderless windowed).
• Search defaults to citizens only (toggle All to include orgs). Brief: avatar, handle/SID, title, enlisted, public orgs (main org highlighted), org description.
• Opacity slider. Compact = contacts list, Standard = vertical dossier, Wide = horizontal intel board. Free-resize flips portrait/landscape.
• Optional name reader: OS window capture + OCR places a tag next to detected names. Without NAVCOM-ID the tag is handle + main org only.
• Turning the reader off unloads capture and the OCR worker completely.
• NAVCOM-ID sign-in is on the Settings panel but disabled until NAVCOM-ID is operational and a staff-approved overlay client exists. Private notes and reputation stay locked.

Visual style follows navcom.ai (cyan / navy panels).

How to use it

1. Set Star Citizen to borderless windowed. Exclusive fullscreen will cover any non-injected overlay.
2. Start SENTRY Overlay. Type a handle or name (minimum 2 characters) and press Enter. Use All next to the box to include organizations.
3. Click a result for the brief. Links open SENTRY or RSI in your browser.
4. Settings (gear): opacity, size presets, citizens-only default, name reader, capture source, tag placement (above / below / left / right).
5. Enable the name reader only if you want on-screen tags. Pick the Star Citizen window. Turn it off when you are done.
6. A green update bar appears only when a newer build is ready. Settings → Check for updates still works; the “you are current” note clears on its own.

The name reader is experimental. 3D nameplates, motion, and tiny HUD text will often be missed. Use search when you need a reliable brief.

Easy Anti-Cheat and Terms

The overlay is a separate process. It does not inject into Star Citizen, does not read game memory, and does not hook DirectX. Search uses the public SENTRY API. The optional name reader uses the operating system’s window/desktop capture API (the same family OBS uses) and runs OCR inside this app.

Cloud Imperium and Easy Anti-Cheat can change detections. OS capture is in the same class as streaming software; that is not a guarantee. Search-only mode never captures the game. Residual risk is yours if you enable the reader.

• Install uses tar + hidden cmd (no PowerShell window). Leftover extract trees are force-removed or renamed aside.
• Repair script for 0.1.2/0.1.3: fix-overlay-update.cmd clears %AppData%\sentry-overlay\updates\extract so Install can proceed.
• Optional auto-install (off). Relaunch restores the last search and last profile.
• Optional: close results after a click; shrink results so the profile stays visible in a short window.
• Pending scrape rows hidden by default (Settings can show them).

0.1.4 — 2026-08-18

• In-app Install and restart no longer reuses updates\extract. Leftover resources (or a Windows file lock) was throwing ENOTEMPTY on rmdir.
• Each apply extracts to a unique folder. Leftovers that cannot be deleted are renamed aside.
• If you are on 0.1.2/0.1.3 and Install still fails: delete %AppData%\Roaming\sentry-overlay\updates\extract and retry, or install this zip. Later updates from 0.1.4 do not need that cleanup.

0.1.3 — 2026-08-18

• Green update bar is gone unless a newer build is actually available.
• “You are on the latest overlay” lives in Settings and disappears after a few seconds.
• Search defaults to citizens only (All / Settings toggle). SENTRY API type=citizen|organization is optional; old clients unchanged.
• Standard is a vertical dossier. Wide is a landscape intel board. Compact stays a tight contacts list.
• Window aspect: portrait stacks fields; landscape arranges left-to-right.

• Compact is a dense contacts-list mode (tight rows), not only a smaller window.
• Tag placement: above, below, left, right. “Over name” removed.
• Stylized scrollbars.
