Dissemination controls

Dissemination is the unfancy word for “who is allowed to see this note or contact report.” You pick people, orgs, and groups as chips. Nothing is broadcast to the whole site.

The idea

Every note and report has an audience. If you add no one extra, it stays with you (and any defaults you saved in Settings). If you add an org SID, members who use that org as an intel source can see it. If you add a group, the group’s rules apply.

This is not Palantir. There is no giant “classification” dropdown with secret compartments. There are chips. Click to add, click to remove.

Defaults

Tired of typing the same org every time? Settings → Dissemination → Default dissemination. New notes and reports pre-fill those chips. You can still peel a chip off a single item without changing the default.

  1. Defaults are a starting point, not a lock. Always glance at the chips before you save something sensitive.

Good habits

  • Share to the smallest useful audience.
  • Do not put secrets in a report you then share to a public group.
  • Your tags and reputation still stay private even when the text is shared.
